First, a very good point was made in the arguments.
I should have contacted the artist directly first and then if a resolution wasn't found, made it public for help.
So for that, I do feel I have to apologize. This is my first time dealing with any kind of real Art/Concept theft or whatever, and I was basically just doing what I've seen people in the past do.

Secondly, yes, the conflict has been resolved. I've decided benefit of the doubt is the right way to go in this particular case. The characters did look pretty much exactly alike, but I'm thinking maybe it was a subconcious thing, like she'd seen it before and had forgotten she'd seen it because that has happened to me before.

Thirdly, for anyone that's worried, no, I am not going to go on people's deviant art accounts to flame them. I'm just gonna chill right here.

Overall, I'm sorry this got really out of hand.  I do wish that more civility was present, such as less baseless name calling, ageism, ableism, etc, going on.
But uh yeah.
So that's now over with.
So uhm anyone reading this that is hip on the drama, just know its resolved and there's no need for like going over to anyones da's for flaming on my behalf or anything.

I'm glad its resolved. I don't know why they thought you were going to go to anyone's DA and start flaming them. Actually I only saw them come to your DA page and start shouting and name calling. But then again the thief usually does start antagonizing first- or in this case their friends.

I'm glad your cool with the final resolution.

Try to stay positive, you just upped your page views dramatically from the random people coming up here to argue :D

Normally when an artist calls "CHARACTER THEFT", i'm inclined to assume they're overreacting, because that usually is the case. However, when I actually came to this drama and saw the two characters in question, It was an obvious rip-off. Now, it might have been an accident, and I hope it was. Now if that person is reading this, a good example of a character that was inspired by the appearance of another character, is Sonic the Hedgehog. Much of Sonic's physical traits are inspired by Mickey Mouse, but he's not a rip off of the latter.

Thank you for the kind words.
I really hope that it was just an accident. I really do.
Thanks for the words of support.

Hey, I just saw what happened and that was blatant character design theft right there. I know it might be all over now but... Such obvious theft... Anyway, glad everything is resolved now- I was actually looking for the two original art pieces so I could report her (if that hasn't been done already.) Glad I saw this journal though. :)

You don't need to be sorry for a single thing imo. You seemed fairly chill about the entire situation. I would have blown up over that guy who made the secondary account and started causing trouble.
But at least its over and done.
